CLOSURES NEXT TWO WEEKENDS!

Milwaukee Alderman Peter Burgelis wants to alert area residents to the planned construction of I-894 that will result in the freeway’s full westbound closure from the Mitchell Interchange to the Hale Interchange for final paving operations. This comes as part of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s (WisDOT) ongoing rehabilitation of I-894 between 84th and 35th Streets in Milwaukee Country. The weekend closure will begin Friday, June 6 at 11 p.m. and run through Monday, June 9 at 5:30 a.m.

“Motorists should be aware and plan accordingly for the weekend westbound closure of I-894, as backups may occur, particularly along freeway off-ramps and along West Layton Avenue,” said Alderman Burgelis. “Milwaukee Police District 6 and special patrols will be available to assist with traffic in the District as needed. I would encourage everyone to allow extra time for travel, and remember to be patient and courteous to your fellow drivers.”

Additionally, WisDOT will be closing the eastbound direction on I-894 next weekend between the Hale Interchange and Mitchell Interchange. The eastbound closure will begin at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, and eastbound I-894 will remain closed until approximately 5:30 a.m. on Monday, June 16.
